So I saw the preview for this movie the other day. Last year I read the book it's based on, and have to agree that being single is quite different in today's times! It just makes me laugh. Hope it can give you a good laugh as well.

4.0 and 30lbs. Lighter
The day is gorgeous outside! The day is even better now that I have received my official grades from Endicott! 1/2 way complete, I have come away with a 4.0! Hooray! The rest is downhill from here, right? All I can say is that all the work has paid off, and I promise to not complain about the long hours this coming semester. I am imagining a month in the mountains of Switzerland ending with a graduation in a chateau, and with a 30th celebration spent in Italy! Anyone want to come and visit? I can see the light at the end of the tunnel - this is all worth it, right? I know my pay won't increase much, but I am seeing the world! Thankfully I have two more weeks off before classes start again - I am going to enjoy every moment of it!
Oh, and the 30lbs. thing - yeah, I've lost 30lbs. in two months! I still have a ways to go, but things seem to be going well! Unfortunately, for those of you who keep asking me about my 'training process,' my friends and I have cancelled our participation in the 1/2 marathon we were supposed to run in February up in Dallas, but we're still getting together to pamper ourselves and enjoy a massage! So, with that said, maybe I'll run it when I am actually 30...give me a little time to prepare myself!

A Few Christmases...
I thought I would post some pictures as a combination of various Christmases in the past week or so.
The first picture is of my stepdad, Billy, enjoying the decorations Art and Glorya Hammers had in their yard. They had a Sunday School Christmas party out at their house, and invited the 'single' children out as well. We watched the boat parade over in Brazoria and had an enjoyable evening, although Kara and I stepped out early to eat dinner at Cafe Annice! :)
Glorya had a beautiful, upside-down tree! It was cool, but I don't know if I could ever have one in my house. I guess I'm just too traditional!
The next few pictures are of Christmas morning. I spent the night with mom and Billy Christmas Eve, and woke up to a delicious breakfast, peace, and quiet! My mom loves Disney, so we sat around in our PJs and watched the Christmas Parade! There is something to be said about a small Christmas celebration!
My mom loved these earrings - which used to belong to a lady at our church! She raved about how much she liked them, so after the Christmas Eve Service, she handed them over! LOL! I love you mom - when are we going to Disney again??

Later that day, I went out to Dad and Rita's to a scrumptous lunch, and then headed over to Aunt Carol and Uncle Garvin's House in Wadsworth. Jordan and I had actually gone out to decorate her house, so I had to take a few pictures of our decorations.
Cordie was there! He had just flown in from New Zealand, so we had a great time laughing at all of his and Dusty's misadventures! I am so proud of my cousins - they have a stamp in their passports! So Cordie, how does Switzerland and Italy sound???
After an afternoon of losing Chicken Foot, Grandma and I headed back to Dad's for a little while. Rita did such a good job at decorating their family room, that I had to throw in some pictures from their house as well.

Christmas with the Naumans 12.27.08
Although two days after Christmas, we found time to come together as a family and celebrate Christmas. Unfortunately not everyone was in attendance, but we did have an enjoyable day together! Christmas was a bit different this year in that there were little kids around! Yes, I know Luke and Ava are older than just a year, but this was the first year to really see the excitement on the kid's faces when they were opening their gifts. I think it is so much more fun to watch the little ones as they dig into their gifts, and then watch the adults try to put the toys together!

The table was set for a delicious meal! Unlike Thanksgiving, I had to make my way to the 'kids' table once again. I'm thankful all the adults were there, but maybe oneday I'll get to sit at the 'adult' table again!

My Christmas
It's always amazing to me to see how fast the Christmas Holidays always seems to fly by. This year, I made it known that I was going to get out of this county for once! Saturday morning I woke up early and headed to east Texas - a place where I have so many great memories, and have so many wonderful friends. My first stop was in Bullard, stopping off at my old school where I taught for a year, Brook Hill. I was shocked at how much it had changed since the last time I was there. I met up with Dave Collins - my old soccer coach and spent some time catching up and enjoying his company. I then traveled down the road to Flint to visit with his wife, Christi, and their two boys. They have grown so much! I can't believe I didn't even take a picture! They have a beautiful new home and I felt blessed to have the opportunity to spend some time with them. On to the next destination - one mile down the road, I was spoiled with a steak dinner with the Carlile's - William, Jen, Maddie and Mollie. I was able to see their new home, catch up on all that has been going on with them and reminisced through the old college days! Thank you Carlile's for a wonderful visit and some tasty strawberry bread! Your girls are beautiful and I can't wait to come back and visit - who knows - I might just decide to make another move! :)
After my Flint/Bullard visit, I ventured over to Longview to spend the night with my brother and his family. I arrived at his road and found there to be NO light/electricity, anywhere! I promise you, God sure has a great sense of humor! After an hour or so of talking in the candlelight, I decided to bundle up and head to bed. Going to bed with no electricity was fine, I just prayed that it would turn back on during the night, and YES, it did - just in time to get up early for church the next morning. Jen, Matthew and I loaded in the car, in the freezing weather and made our way over to Alan's church, Lifepointe. It had been a while since I have visited, and I am still a bit disturbed that everyone wears jeans, but I had to get over it! It is a very contemporary church, filled with all sorts of young folks. If I lived in the area, I am sure I would attend, so if anyone of you reading this are around, go and visit! Alan works there, and if I knew his 'title' I would tell it to you, but really, no clue....something to do with accounting and then media director...sorry Alan, I know you're someone important, but you sure gave some awful jokes at the end...I'll be sure and laugh next time - just to support you! :)
We headed back home, ate some wonderful lunch and then I was on my next adventure, back to Tyler, to visit with the Ogletrees. Their girls were just as precious as I remember them! My visit with Buddy and Lynette was great and I was saddened to have to go, but it was on to the next town! Liz met me in Tyler, and we ventured down to Corrigan/Pineywoods Baptist Encampment, where Erin, Jerrod and Greyson live. Jerrod had a bonfire waiting for us, and we quickly munched on hot dogs and smores! The weather was perfect and the fire was a nice touch to add to the outdoor scenery! The next two days were packed with absolutely nothing, other than enjoying being together, laughing way too much, lounging in our pjs and having Jerrod spoil us rotten with his wonderful cooking and great wine! :) THANK YOU Jerrod! You are a good husband and friend! In the meantime, Erin and Liz colored, cut, and highlighted my hair - pictures are following this blog...
I left home Tuesday afternoon and arrived to another day of hosting our Singles Supper Club and great conversation with friends. What I have gained from my extended weekend adventure was that I am truly blessed. Throughout the weekend the same words seemed to creep up - 'when are you moving again' - 'why don't you come move here' - 'have you met anyone "special" yet addie?' and it continued... I know my track record, of moving from one place to another deems those questions, but for now, I have no clue and am happy here. I have some of the most amazing friends a girl could ask for. I regret that my schooling has kept me so busy that I haven't been in touch with everyone like I should, but I promise to get back on track soon - I hope! As I sit here at my desk, staring out at my backyard, I do ask myself, "what's next?" "how long will I actually be here?" I don't know the answers to those questions - I wish I could tell you what the next year will hold for me, but I really have no clue. There are so many doors that I see opening, and I am continuing to pray for discernment in what I should do next....
Until I figure that all out, I will continue to live my life here in Bay City, enjoying what God has for me here and trying to find time to rest in anticipation of the next semester. (I just found out I made 2 A's on my last two classes - half way through with a 4.0!) It's time to celebrate now! I hope you all have had a Merry Christmas, and a restful holiday. God bless. :)

No Longer Blonde
Here is your first glimpse of me with short, BROWN hair! I know, it's quite shocking! Thanks to the heroic efforts of Erin and Liz, my long, blonde hair took on a dramatic change! I needed change - no regrets - they did a fantastic job! My mom was a bit hesitant as I revealed the new look to her, but you know, it will always grow back! I actually like it and have gotten a ton of compliments, so who knows how long it will last! Thanks again Erin and Liz, it was a great start to a much needed holiday break!

Congratulations Dr.Douglas!
I know I'm skipping some big events that I have taken pictures of, but I wanted to be sure and share this picture with you. Friday night, Kara (Rowland)Douglas officially became DR.DOUGLAS! After a quick trip up to Kansas City to graduate, she and her family made it back to Texas just in time for us to pick her up and celebrate! Ron and I took her out on the town, or rather an enjoyable evening of a movie and dinner at Cafe Annice in Lake Jackson! Congratulations Kara - I am so proud of you, and so happy that I could be here with you to celebrate! What do you plan on doing next?!

It's time to decorate! The Sunday after Thanksgiving, my housemate Jordan and I decorated the house for the Christmas Holiday. I realize the first few pictures are fuzzy, and I apologize for that. I'm not a professional! Take a look at Christmastime at my house!
St.Francis had to make an appearance again on our TV cabinet.

This is the tree in my room. It is covered in various ornaments and momentos from around the world, topped off with a Russian hat!

This picture was taken in remembrance of the Christmas Parade. Our Handbell choir was playing in the parade, and so we thought we would be there to support the handbells and our friends. I made these signs and we proudly held them up and hollered during the parade! Everyone loved us! Every time I look at these I just have to laugh!
